Coach Spencer Dexter joined Sunrise Basketball Academy in 2023. Coach Dex has been the head coach of our program's top teams since the beginning and a big reason why we are competitive in all levels of play. Along with his coaching duties for SBA, he is also an assistant coach for Sunrise Christian Academy's Elite High School Team. He has helped develop players of all levels, but is known for developing the following McDonald's All-Americans and/or pros: Matas Buzelis, Gradey Dick, Mark Mitchell, Kennedy Chandler, Kendall Brown, Bobi Klintman, and Dillon Jones. Coach Dex had the opportunity to take part in an internship with noted NBA player development coach and high-performance consultant, Phil Beckner. Phil maintains a client list that includes NBA professionals including Damian Lillard, Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson among others. While at SCA, they have been extremely successful with key victories such as the 2021-22 NIBC (now EYBL Scholastic) Championship as well as a quarterfinal upset of the #1-seeded Montverde Academy team in the 2022-23 GEICO High School National Championships. Our individuals at Sunrise Basketball Academy is extremely lucky to have the opportunity to be led by Coach Dexter both on and off the floor!
